Covid Alert: Noguchi detects 34 cases of Omicron variant in Ghana

Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research has issued a public alert saying it has detected at least 34 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus in Ghana.

The virus was found in the 34 out of 120 samples of persons  who arrived at the Kotoka International Airport between November 21 and 25 of this year.

Noguchi said the number constitutes 28% of the total number tested adding that “these are the first imported cases in Ghana.”

The medical research body said it is closely monitoring the potential spread of the virus in Ghana, and cautioned the populace to stay alert and keep observing Covid-19 prevention protocols strictly.
