Huawei completes EMUI 10.1 upgrade plan in Africa and Middle East

Huawei has now completed its EMUI 10.1 upgrade plan in Africa and the Middle East.

This means all Huawei devices in Africa and the Middle East should have now received EMUI 10.1, shortly before the company starts rolling out EMUI 11, its new in-house version of Android.
Formerly known as Emotion UI, EMUI is an Android-based custom user interface developed by Huawei for its mobile devices. It is pre-installed on Huawei’s honor devices.

The OS update should have now reached all eligible devices in Africa and the Middle East, as the screenshot below demonstrates.

The company has already delivered EMUI 10.1 to all but the Mate Xs in the two regions, which it initially claimed it would start upgrading in early September.

To date, Huawei has also finished upgrading devices to EMUI 10.1 in Canada, Japan and Western Europe.

As it stands, Huawei has yet to complete the EMUI 10.1 rollout for the Nova 5T and Mate Xs in North-Eastern Europe and the P30P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro in Central Asia and Russia. The company is also yet to finish issuing EMUI 10.1 to the Mate Xs in Latin America.

The company did not give dates for when it will finish regional EMUI 10.1 upgrade plans, but we would expect the company to have done so by the end of October at the latest.

It noted that these upgrade plans only apply to factory unlocked handsets.

Accordingly, Huawei is urging customers who use locked phones to contact their network service providers instead of Huawei about the release of EMUI 10.1.
