Vodafone Ghana is offering free 1GB of data and 100 minutes free calls for customers who register their Vodafone SIM cards between now and the July 31 deadline.

Per government directive, all mobile phone users in Ghana are supposed to re-register their SIM cards by July 31, 2022 using only the Ghana Card or their SIM cards will be deactivated.

The deadline is exactly 10 days away and yet many Ghanaians do not even have their Ghana Cards in hand to even link it to the SIM Cards. Some have registered with the National Identification Authority (NIA) but the Ghana Card is yet to be delivered to them, others are yet to register.

But telecom service providers like Vodafone are on a drive to whip up speedy registration to avoid any deactivation come July 31, 2022.

In a statement, Vodafone outlined the simple two-step registration approach as follows:

The first thing you need to do is link your Ghana Card to your SIM Card. This is a very simple step that requires customers to dial *404# or visiting www.vodafone.com.gh/sim/ to link their Ghana Cards with the SIM. You will receive a code after successfully linking your card. This step is straightforward and easy to complete.

The Next Step Is to Capture Your Biometric Information, which require the following:

Customers must have their Ghana Card, Ghana Post GPS address and unique code, which is generated from the first step. You can retrieve this code by dialling *404#. Vodafone customers can visit any of its registration centres and retail shops across the country to complete the process. Vodafone said its employees have been trained and given the interface necessary to assist in capturing customers’ biometric information.

It said once a customer completes the process, “you will receive 1GB of data and 100 minutes of talk time to talk to friends and loved ones.”
